Robert Borley

AMS Export

Biography

Rob has over 30 years’ experience in the international fresh produce and FMCG supply chain sectors, working across procurement, logistics, commercial management and global sourcing. In 1991 he began his career with Christian Salvesen as part of their graduate training programme, gaining blue-chip experience in large-scale warehousing, distribution and retail supply operations serving major UK supermarkets.

Rob then moved into fresh produce sourcing and category management, working in Spain with Las Lomas and later to join Primafruit. Over the following decade he managed key retail accounts including Tesco and Asda, and in 2006 became the first to develop a direct sourcing model supplying Tesco with fresh produce — an approach that helped reshape retailer–grower partnerships at the time.

In 2014, Rob joined Berry Gardens to lead their UK and imported cherry programmes, overseeing both domestic production and global supply development. He formally joined AMS Export in 2018 and is now a senior partner of AMS, managing fresh produce sourcing around the world and supporting customers across Europe, Asia, Australia, North America and the Middle East.

Rob is based in Cheltenham, UK.
